Some call STARBREAKER a Melodic Metal sensation, but I'm not sure that I can agree on that. STARBREAKER is: Tony Harnell (TNT), Magnus Karlsson (Last Tribe), Fabrizio Grossi (Steve Vai) and John Macaluso (ex-ARK).

Not that this album is bad, no ... it's quite enjoyable. However I'm not sure if it's my cup of tea. We get 13 songs here and some of them are very good. Just listen to "Die For You", "Lies" and "Save Yourself", but the rest is a little bit boring in MY opinion. I miss some real highlights, some memorable choruses, and memorable guitar riffs.

Sound wise STARBREAKER reminds me of Eighties Hard Rock. The production is good and they master the split between traditional and a slightly more modern production nicely, so that they do not sound outdated, despite the strong influences from that time.

Bottom line: surely not a masterpiece in MY opinion, but if your expectations aren't that high, then this might be a pleasing album. Maybe I'm just a dork and STARBREAKER is the best band on the planet. It's up to you to decide.
