No this is not the legendary Griffin, the band that gave us “Flight of the Griffin” and “Protectors of the Lair” in the mid eighties. Griffin hails from Trondheim, Norway, and “Lifeforce” is their fourth album, I haven't heard any of the previous albums and for some reason I always thought that Griffin was just another death metal band.

“Lifeforce” doesn’t really kick off before track 5 “Utopia” a great ballad, “Dungeon”, “Lifeforce” & “Bound in Re-runs” are all great mid tempo metal, Dokken meets Stormwind kind of metal.

The biggest problem with this album is that half of the tracks are great, and with the other half I just want to sleep, then you might say just use the skip button on the CD player, No damn it when I listen to music I want to hear a full CD! And I don’t want to be bothered with pushing any buttons. “Lifeforce” comes with a great production off the hands of Andy LaRocque, and a bonus track called “Unforgiver”.

Recommended tracks: “Utopia”, "Lifeforce” & “Bound in Re-runs”.
