The Garden of Unearthly Delights

My favourite Doom / Stoner Rock band Cathedral is back with a brand new album called “The Garden of Unearthly Delights”, and I can promise all Cathedral fans out there that it’s a great one… at least in my humble opinion!

What we have here is an album filled with catchy rhythms and great hooks without losing the HEAVY and groovy edge to the music. These British musicians know how to make “original” groovy Doom/Stoner rock and here on “The Garden of Unearthly Delights”, Cathedral proofs that they have never lost their way.

Cathedral still sounds like… CATHEDRAL… a mixture of ultra heavy passages and groovy and faster parts. One big surprise is to be found here on this album… track 9, “The Garden”. It’s a 27 minute epic with changes of pace and styles, with violins and female vocals... one hell of a track.

Closing "song", "Proga-Europa" (a hidden track), is nothing but five minutes of silence followed by about a minute of additional music… a waste of time if you ask me!

“The Garden of Unearthly Delights ” is a must have for every fan of Cathedral and Stoner rock. Definitely one of my favourite albums of 2005. Two thumbs up!

Recommended tracks: Put it in your CD-player and press play… but skip track 10!
