If you’re looking for catchy melodies and easily accessible choruses then look elsewhere right now. Arcturus is all about challenging musical boundaries rather than following every one else’s paths.

The Norwegian black metal all stars team has yet again given birth to a noteworthy piece of music history that brings together the chugging guitars of the best black metal with some new age music weirdness.

The nine songs on “Sideshow Symphonies” are an exploration of ideas and the far corners of musicality. It is not an album you put on the CD player when you want to relax – it simply demands too much attention. Be warned: you need to be in a special sort of mood to be able to cope with this – I do anyway. It is a brilliant piece of music, but I couldn’t listen to it two times in a row!

Do yourself a favour an check it out – you might learn what music can also be.
