Out Of Myself

Ready for another potion of Porcupine Tree light? Just like the recent released album by Blackfield (where Steve Wilson is taking part, unlike this one), this is progressive rock in the vein of Porcupine Tree. Riverside from Poland is playing some very emotional music creating huge soundscapes, that makes you think of bands like Pink Floyd, Opeth and off course Porcupine Tree.

Just take a listen to the opener "The Same River"; a monumental 10 minutes plus epic with many layers of sound creating a dark and moody atmosphere. Or listen to the beautiful "I Believe", which is a nice acoustic song with great vocals by Mariusz Duda. "Reality Dream" (Part I and II) shows that they also know how to rock away, two cool instrumentals.

The first time I heard "In Two Minds" I had to check if Steve Wilson was singing - the vocals is so close to his, that it is almost eerie. My favorite song off the album has to be "The Curtain Falls" a wonderful combination of prog, psychedelia and rock. But there is not a single bad song on this very surprising album.

The album has an excellent production to support the wonderful sound-collages and it has a great artwork done by Travis Smith (Opeth, Nevermore, Jag Panzer etc.), so you get the full package here, and I think this album is a tad better than Blackfield, and if you like the above mentioned bands then I suggest you check this album out ....
