"Start From The Dark" is the comeback album from one of Europe's premier hard rock bands, their last album "Prisoners In Paradise" was released back in 1991. And since then, the member has gone seperate ways, some trying to get a solo career going, others playing in various bands, and some have almost disappeared from the scene.
Now together again, a with a whole new approach to writing music, the guitars have been toned down a bit, the music is more aggressive and I am pretty sure, that their harder style will surprise a lot of people.
Objectively speaking this is a good hard rock album, but it's NOT another excellent release from Europe, the songs are simply not strong enough. They are still able to write some excellent ballads. Sure there's good songs on this album, but too many mediocre tracks have found their way onto this album.
I think it's great, to see these old guys trying once more, and I am pretty confident, that the new songs will be great live, and that old fans will love this album! You should at least give it a try ...
