Altair is a Thrash/Death Metal band from Stockholm, Sweden and a few days ago I received a 4 track demo-CD called “Two from them. I threw it in my CD player and, wow... they are old school... damn... the 4 tracks are awesome.

The first track “Altair Attack” hits you like a hammer and bands like Sodom, (old) Kreator and a few late 80’s death Metal bands came to mind.

Every one who really knows me... know that I’m a sucker for this kind of old school Thrash/Death so I was knocked right out of my socks the first time I heard the 4 tracks. I wouldn’t have thought that they would do it this well.

Track 2 “Pyroclastic Flow” is one hell of an instrumental track... razor-sharp riffing... fast and loud, groovy, blasting, skilful tempo changes and a breath of melody, really classy!

A machine gun-like guitar riff starts track 3 “We vs Us”... Damn... I’m fucking sure that I’ve heard this track before... but where???? – Well.. maybe I haven’t... maybe it’s because it is so memorable that I was sure I have heard it somewhere before?

Track 4 “Preemptive Strike” goes full throttle and once again I’m sure that I’ve have heard it before. Fucking memorable track.

As mentioned above... they are very old school, so you could claim that they don’t have an own style, but an own character is definitely there.

Do check it out if you’re into 80’s Thrash and Death Metal.
