Rhapsody like to describe their metal music as Film Score Metal. And to enhance the soundtrack feel, they have used a lot of guests on the album: The entire Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra from the Czech Republic, a 50 piece choir as well as Christopher Lee - well known actor - to do the narration of this album. Good choice I think, because he fits the music excellent.
The 2 primary members of Rhapsody - guitarist Luca Turilli and keyboarder Alex Staropoli - have written and produced this amazing album. Musically everything is as we are used to - love or hate it - huge majestic choirs, fast guitars and bombastic keyboard sounds, everything played and produced well.
This is without a doubt their best album since the first part of "Symphony Of Enchanted Lands", with some of their best songs ever: "Unholy Warcry" - a traditional fast song. "Sacred Power Of Raging Winds" - the best song, they have ever written, just take a listen to the perfect middle-section, where they combine classical music and flutes with metal - awesome. And I have to mention the ballad: "Guardiani Del Destino" - a song sung in Italian and it works!
With Rhapsody, you know what to expect, and they don't disappoint. If you love their previous stuff, then I am sure you'll love this one as well. Haters will however just receive more fuel for their fire ... because they do not offer much new here ... it's sort of like watching Formula 1 - you know what will happen.
