The Long Escape are a talented band that play a brand of prog metal that incorporates groove metal and some djent into a song driven format. The issue for me is that there is nothing overly special about the band or their new album "The Warning Signal." It's not bad at all! But it's not something I will remember a few months from now. They have some very good moments like the chorus on "Awakened Ones" which is great but the verses are just average.

It feels like the pieces are there. The cool riff on "Million Screens" or catchy groove on "Carnival of Deadly Sins" are examples of the potential that the band has. The Long Escape could do a lot and perhaps just need another release or so to harness their potential. They need more "wow" moments and I hope they get them.
