High speed power metal, a genre that was founded by the likes of Helloween and Gamma Ray and bands like Sonata Arctica and Altaria brought into the new millennium. Fast and furious pounding drums, twin licks and leads and a vocalist trying to keep up with the pace with his high pitched voice is the name of the game for this up- and coming young band: Jack the Frost.

Germany and Finland seem like the places that still love and cherish these virtues, and yes Jack the Frost hails from the land of a thousand lakes, and they fall nicely in line with all the other Finnish representatives of the genre.

If you are looking for a new band pushing the boundaries then this is not the thing for you; this is well played and produced fast and powerful metal, with fast guitar riffs setting the pace, big choirs and a rhythm section pounding away like their life depended on it.

"Fool To Be Cool" is a cool (pun intended) debut release from these four Fins, and if they can deliver a full album with songs of this caliber then I am sure they'll find many fans amongst the power metal community.

This EP shows promise, and if you are into the bands mentioned above, then I suggest you check it out.
