Bodyguerra is a new band for me. They are a German rock/hard rock band that has existed since 2009. When I see that this album has almost a whole year by the neck, I get a little skeptical. It usually means that it sold poorly or that they have changed their manager, who wants to give the disc a new opportunity. I have given this disc a few spins and there are a few songs that are OK, but most of it sounds unfortunately far too mediocre in comparison to what I would expect from a full-priced CD.

'Freddy ... Nothing As It Seems' is a concept album about a serial killer. Harold Shipman Frederik was a physician/doctor and between 1970 and 1998 (the year of his imprisonment) and 250 of his clients had to bite the dust. His devotional "work" earned him the nickname "Dr. Death". That sounds like a nice hard rock theme and I waited, and waited and waited for the "killer songs". But to no avail. It's not easy to do a concept album for your debut disc.

I had a hard time finding anything uplifting at all with this album. The vocals are too weak and fade, the production is thin as a crystal glass and I miss energies or any high technical guitar performances. Tedious and lifeless as chewing gum that are being solidified. Nice guitar riffing in 'In the End', the groovy track 'Dr. Death' and the quite melodic song 'Castle in the Dark' rescues it from my big and sharp splitting ax.

I'm sorry, but I have to add a stop sign on this.
The album is available on Spotify, so you can listen by yourself.
