Blind Guardian
Twilight of the Gods
Style: Power Metal
Release date: 5 December, 2015
Playing time: 13:45

Blind Guardian is back with a new song "Twilight of the Gods" which is taken from their upcoming release "Beyond the Red Mirror" which comes out in January. The single has the song and 2 bonus live tracks. "Twilight of the Gods" is typical Blind Guardian, a mix of power metal and speed metal with Hansi's powerful voice belting out tales of Gods and Wizards. The whole dungeons and dragons thing has served the band well and they are still great at it. They sound great and the song is powerful.

As for the 2 live tracks, they are good live recordings from Wacken 2011 where the band is bound to go over well. For me, I prefer the bonus tracks on a single to be either cover songs or extra songs from the sessions of the album. Live tracks are fine for a DVD or live album, otherwise I am not interested. This single is for diehard fans and "completists." For the rest of us, "Twilight of the Gods" is just a warm up for "Beyond the Red Mirror."
