An intro coming as if from epic film production from the beginning of the 80es leads us into the world of CLENCHED FIST. The dynamic scene in the metal capital of Brazil – Sao Paolo, could not have its influences on the petrified style of the band. Even that their releases are rare and the line up changes – frequent, behind the straightforward seeking can be seen the personal dictate of Vagner Fist (vocals).

The music of CLENCHED FIST has its strong influences from CANDLEMASS. In contrast to the European followers of the testament who develop the doom metal in epical and occult direction, the straightforwardness of the Brazilians is blind and their style has other influences. In the short songs with one CANDLEMASS’ riff are melted elements from the classic metal of RUNNING WILD, MOTORHEAD and IRON MAIDEN.

The songs unfold noisy with strong guitar sound, whistling cymbals and high vocals with lots of echo. Exactly in the approach of Messiah Marcolin here also could be found intervals outside the scale in the vocal lines but not with such success. The emphasizing of this technique with prolongation leaves the feeling of falsity. The delicate balance used by CANDLEMASS appears to be true master ship.

The last two songs are manifest of the 80es traditional metal dressed in the cassock of Messiah Marcolin. This is the feeling as a whole from „The Gift of Death“. The strongly reflected riffs in such a combination makes the songs short and easy to percept. For the fans of the gender the Brazilians could be pleasant addition to their CD collections. The lack of something distinctive in the music works of CLENCHED FIST lowers the value of their achievements.  In such a way their pleasant new album becomes somehow a little bit comic because of the lack of development.
