Armory is a power metal band that hails from Townsend, US and was formed back in 2001 by the guitarist Chad Fisher and the guitarist/drummer Joe Kurland. Their debut album 'The Dawn of Enlightenment' was released in December, 2007.

Armory is a brand new acquaintance to me and with a very big hammer of heavy metal they really shake my spine fresh out of the box. Powerful, fast and pompous drums in a high pace classic power metal with a very gifted singer in the front. Mixed with some technical and progressive guitars they make a big impression on me. The brilliant guitar playing throughout 'Empyrean Realms' is the biggest and most memorable moment on "Empyrean Realms". Joe's brother Adam Kurland is a superb vocalist and has the right tone and pitch to sing all nine awesome power metal tracks on this disc.

Joe Kurland has newly created their label Metavania Music and he has also made the logo, produced and edit this piece of art. Five years of preparatory work of the disc has resulted in a very well balanced and a nearly flawless album that contains tons of well-built guitar loops and wonderful, creative progressive melodies that wraps and turns me around.

The melodies creating some internal images that are fantastic. The opening 'Eternal Mind' blew me away and when 'Dreamstate' developed to become a giant and colorful song that just gets bigger every time I listening to it,  I must hit myself in the head and because I have completely missed out on this band. "Empyrean Realms" contains some real highlights, for example, the full instrumental miracle 'Horologium', which I like to hear over and over and over again. The subsequent 'Elements of Creation' is also a brilliant musical piece, which has a lot of Iron Maiden's blood and tempo. They haven't put any slow, boring songs or any gentle love ballads on the album. No, there are nine quick power/progressive metal tracks that each and every one has it's own unique characteristics and I find this very entertaining. Wake up metal friends and check them out.

I have to get my hands on their debut album, because this is a masterful power metal band that deserves to get their ticket to Europe this coming summer. I want to hear this music from a live stage and I want to have a cool beer in my hand.

If you are a fan of bands like: Pagans Mind, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Manowar with a strong progressive twist to it,  then this is a given investment...
