The great british rock singer Lee Small has done a solo album with influences from the UK blues rock. Lee is one of those guys just like Tony Martin and Glenn Hughes, who can join bands for a short time and make them rise to new heights with their golden throats. For me is his strong effort on SHY's latest album Shy, and he is also a big reason that in my ears that piece of art was one the best melodic rock disc's in 2011.

Anyway, "Jamaica Inn" is Lee's first solo album and together with the guitar guru: Martin Kronlund (Gypsy Rose), Imre Daun on drums (Don Patrol, Gypsy Rose) and Paul Bradder on keyboard (Saracen) he give us a awesome blues rock album, quite far from the heavy metal road. Lee guides us into the more sensitive and emotional side of rock music and I love it, but it took me a while and several listenings to find the golden tracks that really tickles my backbone and with a taste from Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant this album does grow with each spin. "Jamaica Inn" turns to a more mature public and fans of the 70s rock 'n' roll with groovy guitar riffs and mid tempo pace from the rythm section.

Lee has a nice mix with slow ballads as "Shine A Light" and heavy blues tracks as "Voyager" and actually only one rock song "Walk The Plank". Mr Kronlund on guitars contributes with great efforts on every track, just listen to the solo on "Voyager". 10/10!

Overall this is more of a blues album than a hard rock album and normally nothing I should put my money on, but if you are a fan of blues and guitar rock, this is worth buying.
