German Gravety clearly have a knack for writing excellent, powerful tunes and churn out majestic riffs.

The track Axe Of Execution is a for instance a good example of a song which is just the hammer. Awesome stuff! Diverse, heavy, metal filled with doom without being doom per se.

But w
hen it comes down to it, it's all a matter of taste, innit? I can't get to grips with the main voice of the band, Kevin Portz. In my ears, there's virtually no dynamics in his voice - he comes out flat and uninspiring. I don't want this to come out as a personal attack at all, because it isn't! There's just something in his voice that I can't abstract from, and it tends to kill the rest of the experience for me. The brutal grunt of guitarist Gernot Gebhard I can much easier come to terms with.

By all means, check it out if you like heavy metal with a heavy element of doom and splashes of thrash metal. The music is actually very, very cool!
