Some metal bands do not have an easy path to fame and recognition for their musical skills. These Germans in 'Destination's Calling' should really have a big contract with a major record company! With two full length albums under their belts, they have recorded the 'End Of Time' album at Gate Studio in Wolfsburg using their own resources. Their previous discs came in 2001 'Mastery Of The Light' and in 2006 ' Invisible Walls'.

Already after my very first listening of the album, I fell for their technical metal and atmospheric melodies. In several of the songs, they have more of the Scandinavian mood than your classic German power metal band has. The superb vocalist Christian Gräter has a very emotional voice and gives the melodious songs life and color. The symbiosis and cooperation with other musicians are perfect and the eleven songs are really great in their different tempi.

Some are real fast metal songs and the majestic and progressive quieter songs are very enjoyable. Of course the sound brings nothing new on the metal sky and I hold the first seven tracks in a higher division than the last 6 songs. The magical 'Feel The Rain', the catchy 'Soulbound' and the strong title track 'End of Time' are the best tunes on the album.

I will keep listening to this disc after posting my review because it grows with each spin and I hope that I will hear more from these guys in a near future again. My thumps are up anyway!
Fans of Queensryche, Kamelot and Avantasia will find DC interesting!

Line up: Christian Gräter - vocals, Markus Christian - guitar, backing vocals, Steffen Singler - bass, Christian Frank on the drums.
