The brand new and very exiting Swedish project named Civil War is full of talented members with the former musicians from Satabon (Mullback, Myhr, Sundén and Montelius), Astral Doors, Lion's Share (Nils Patrik Johansson) and from Volturyon (Stefan Eriksson). This mix of Viking blood has done a serious attack to get fans from the adult Sabaton fan-base. With more mature lyrics and a big and powerful vocals from Mr. Johansson they are creating a promising start of the project and these five tracks are trigging my ears. Five nice appetizer songs.

A bombastic sound with a touch of Dio and dose of Iron Maiden in a blend. If I compare Civil War and Astral Doors, it's more melodic in Civil War and in the big opening song 'Rome is Falling', the guitars are much more in the front. I feel that they have put much time on the work of the tracks. Well written songs and a good production. Mixed and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren!

Nils Patrik sounds better than ever and he has a personal tone and power in his voice that is his own trademark. The war themes in the lyrics seems to be a legacy from the time with Sabaton, but Civil War goes further back in the history books.

Overall their metal style is not far from their previous bands, but the guitars have a much clearer appearance and along with the powerhouse NP Johansson in the front, makes this a promising EP. Their first live concert will be on Sweden Rock Festival 2013 and I'm aiming to be standing in the front row.

The full length disc will be out in May 2013.

Lineup: Daniel Myhr - keyboard, Daniel Mullback - drums, Oskar Montelius and Rikard Sundén - guitars, Nils Patrik Johansson - vocals and Stefan Eriksson on the bass guitar.
