Chasing Shadows
Style: Hard Rock
Release date: 27 January, 2012

When the first guitar chords on Ancara's new album toned out of the speakers, it gave me a Amorphis Kalevala feeling and that is maybe a little Finnish sound gene that the Finns have in their black rock blood.

This is Ancara's third album and is produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HiM, 69 Eyes, Lordi). It's a solid rock throughout the album and it's a easy listening, perhaps I should say with a radio friendly touch on the album. Some of the tracks are very close to pop, but with strong guitars it stays in the light rock/pop section. For me is this sound too watery, out of personality and too colorless for the higher division in the Hard Rock league, but with a stronger vocalist, with more attitude and tracks that challenges the listener, they could surely go to playoff some day.

Sorry guys, but I can't find any favorite tracks on Chasing Shadows. But I think that there are fans out there in the softish rock world that finds Ancara enjoyable, but for me the first chords with the Amorphis touch was the best on the album.
