Probably many of us have heard the voice of Jonathan “Joller” Albrechtsen. This probably happened in 2009 when the "To the Nines" by HATESHPERE came out. But during the same year his title band SCARRED BY BEAUTY had the time to release an EP with him named "We swim". All the three tracks from it are now on the full length debut of the band.

“Sutra” means connection in Hindu and the word even entered through Sanskrit in the Latin language. The cover artwork of the release is in Indian style without keeping to the Veda-traditions.

The experimental death metal of SCARRED BY BEAUTY indeed carries lots of connections in itself. The album starts with two metal-core tracks which at the background of the rest songs obviously are provoked by the contemporary extreme scene. These tracks could be their newest but they are faceless as style. The Danish tradition is loudly expressed: melodic music dressed in an aggressive sound and supported by extreme vocal. This is death-thrash in common measure with melted melody and presented anti-radio-phonically. The songs from the above mentioned EP (3, 6 and 8) are the most metal serving ones in which there are less experiments. As if the other tracks (which do not distinguish essentially) are obsessed by the wish of change.

SCARRED BY BEAUTY are as a replica of the contemporary world - divided between the local and the global. The specific features of the Danish and the Scandinavian scene are penetrated by metal-core influences forming an amorphous mass. This state of obscurity is obstructive to the appraisal of their music. Sutra" is more exotic character than an achievement.
