Anyone that knows me knows I am a huge fane of Jorn Lande. So please forgive me if this review is slightly biased :)

"Live in Black" was recorded at the Swedish Rock Festival on the 10th of June 2011 in front of 20,000 crazy metal fans that is spread out on 2 CD's and also comes with a bonus DVD. So value for money I think. Jorn Lande became well known in the metal scene as the front man for melodic power metal band Masterplan. But before he joined Masterplan he had paved a very good path with his solo efforts as well & each album just got stronger & stronger, and so too did he comparison to the great "Ronnie James Dio" music wise & vocally.

On "Live In Black" it's basically a "Best Of" of his later solo career but in front of 20,000 people. 90% of the songs he plays are taken from the 3 lastest studio albums. Musically the band pumps live, each song sounds so much bigger and heavier than the album versions & the production is top shelf stuff. The man himself is in blistering fine form, hitting every note to perfection & sounding more like Dio then I have heard him before & the comparison is striking. There is a very special moment towards the end of "Man of the Dark" where Jorn draws a huge cheer from the massive crowd when he mentions the great man "RJD", the ending sounds very familiar with "Man on the Silver Mountain" hahaha. This is one of only 2 live albums I have enjoyed immensely in the last few years, it makes you want to just push play again & listen to one of the best METAL vocalist there is around today.

The DVD is the full concert as stated below, as well it contains 2 video clips Song for Ronnie James, Man of the Dark.
