UK based Confined Within makes its debut with this 'Ashes of a Fallen Kingdom'. The album is a mix of breakdowns, screams, clean singing, thrash riffs and rather moving melodies. Modern metal core, but heard so many times before. This should not be a problem if the execution would be excellent and the production super. But that isn't the fact here. The singing qualities of Tom Ashton are certainly not above average, the production is so - so and the songwriting is very average.

After listening to the album there isn't really a song that sticks and if you want to make a difference within this crowded and blind milked genre you have to present more. Since this being their debut record, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. They have to take into account that they must progress a lot on the next album, otherwise I expect them to be doomed soon.
