I have always had a weak spot for the Dutch band Asphyx. The sick vocals of Martin van Drunen combined with ultra heavy riffs, sometimes in up-tempo, sometimes very slow; make this band one of my favourites (still). A song like "MS Bismarck" for example can still not be topped by many. Their latest studio record 'Death... The Brutal Way' still finds its way into my player every now and then. They recorded and filmed at the Turock venue in Essen (Germany) on July 4th, 2009 during the release-show for the 'Death... The Brutal Way' album.

You can buy the Ltd. DVD+2CD or the DVD or just the 2CD. I only got the last one, so that's what you find in the tracklist beneath. If I still find some money under my pillow or in an old smelly sock, I intend to buy the Ltd. edition. On the DVD you find the same songs as beneath plus a documentary with lots of old stuff and bonus material from several performances through the years. I don't know what the quality of the rest of the stuff is like, but the 2CD sounds o.k.

The only minus they get from me is that they recorded a show in Germany and that the comments between the songs are sometimes a bit too much for me as a Dutchman, but I understand that they have chosen for Germany because they have a large fan base there. Nice live album!
