Formerly known as Despotic Robot and recently signed to Candlelight Records are Boston Thrashers, Ramming Speed.

The band truly lives up to their name showing no sign of decelerating from start to finish. With fast speed hooks and style, it only takes a listen to get into their familiar, yet very raw sound. The first track, 'Speed Trials', instantly gives you a taste of old school rock and punk. Throughout the album, you'll hear their appreciation for grind and hardcore music, which they conveyed and twisted to suit into their own creation.

I'm well impressed by the versatility of the vocals ranging from punk, hardcore and even death growls. You will hear the good vocal range right from the beginning, but the second song, 'The Threat...', is really where the death vocals start to kick in. It is only on bare parts and not constantly, so don't look too deep into it.

I wish I could say that I listened agape at the splendour of the solos, but unfortunately, I found no significance in the plain old 'rock n roll' solos. Seeing the potential in this band, I know they could have improved the solos instead of taking the identical, typical route like everyone else.

If you were ever curious to hear the outcome of Spazz + Motorhead + Megadeth + (insert grind band here), here is your chance. If you have been a fan or willing to give them a shot, they've just finished a 2 month summer tour and are again prepared to tour this coming September. Try to get a copy of their limited album release, 'Always Disgusted, Never Surprised', which features 4 new songs and have been only available on tour. Just hope they aren't sold out.
