Ground of Ruin
Cloaked in Doctrine
Rating
Style: Blackened Death/Thrash Metal
Release date: December 30th 2008

I’ve only read good things about this EP from this Irish band called Ground of Ruin that only contains 4 tracks, but sadly I do need a little more than what they have to offer.

The very first track is a short acoustic (intro) with a great and very gloomy atmosphere and then they go full throttle on the next track, the title track “Cloaked in Doctrine”... and especially the guitar runs sounds good to me.

We are talking Blackened Death/Thrash here... and we all like our music “very metal”, right? However the tracks seem to go into one ear and out the other. Even after numerous listens.

What I do like about the 3 real tracks is the “epic feel” about the guitar riffs... more of that please. They are really on to something here... but it’s simply not fair to rate an EP with only 3 tracks, but I would welcome a full-length CD anytime.

Please check them out and be your own judge. I must... (again) admit that I need a little more.
