’My Inner damnation’ is the title of the first demo-release from the female fronted Italian symphonic  metal band DARK VENERIS.

We get 6 tracks (one intro and 5 “real tracks”) and there are nothing wrong with their music and the melodies... they are okay. But there is certainly room for improvement here.

First of all is Monica Cadenini’s voice not above average in my humble opinion. Her range is quite disappointing... she can’t hold her voice on the high parts. But she can work on that, I’m sure. And maybe they should skip the “growls” done by Filippo Guarnaschelli? I just feel that the growls are one-dimensional and doesn’t really belong here… but that’s my humble opinion.

The production is okay for a demo release but the band have to remember that the competition is “million” strong out there, so they need better songs, even though that the songs are okay.

The band is obviously going through a developing process so let’s wait and see… ‘cause I’m sure that they can top this demo on their next release.

If you absolutely must have everything in the genre, then go ahead, but there are far better releases out there.

Not bad but certainly not stunning.
