German Black Metal band FARSOT released a demo entitled ”042103Freitod” in 2004. Now 3 years later they are ready to spread their dark and very Black Metal upon us with this, their first full-length album called “IIII”. “IIII” is a pleasant surprise in my book, but I’m not sure that most genre-fans will give this album the time it needs to blossom... but well.... I could be wrong.

I find their music very atmospheric and there’s a good balance between aggression and melody but this album does need several spins to grow. Most of the songs are quite enjoyable but the vocals are at times quite annoying. A ridiculous coughing here and there in track 5 “Thematik: Tod” is... well... quite funny to listen to... but I understand what they are trying to do.

This album is perfect for a dark and gloomy autumn afternoon because of the atmosphere in the music and I’m quite curious to see and hear what they can come up with on their next album. The production is quite good and suits the music fine but the cover art work is not exactly breathtaking.

Well... do yourself a favour and buy this album out when it hit the stores October 29th. Hurry home... turn off the lights and enjoy this gloomy piece of music.

Thumbs up!
