Devian from Sweden is the brainchild of former Marduk members Legion (vocals) and Emil Dragutinovic (drums). Devian is completed by Joinus (guitars), Tomas Nilsson (bass) and Markus Lundberg (selected lead guitars).

“Ninewinged Serpent” is their debut album and a very pleasant surprise in my book. Their music can easily be described as a mix between Black, Death and Thrash Metal and I was stunned right away. Their music is not faster than the speed of light but controlled and peppered with awesome leads, riffs and licks. This is actually very melodic stuff... but don’t worry... its not wimpy in any way.

Well... I know that it all comes down to a matter of taste, but this is the best Black-Death-Thrash Metal album this year so far. This promo-CD I’m holding in my hands contains 10 tracks and it’s hard for me to name any stand out tracks, because they are all very good.

The production is crystal clear and powerful and suits the music fine and fans of Black-Death-Thrash Metal should definitely check this album out right away.
