”Revolution Rising” is the debut album from Civilization One a band that contains members from all around the world. From Sri Lanka, Italy, France and Brazil… yes Civilization One is quite international.

Chitral Somapala (Avalon, Firewind), vocals – Aldo Lanobile (Secret Sphere), guitars –

Luca Cartasegna (Secret Sphere), drums – Pierre-Emmanuel Pélisson (Heavenly), bass

and Jesper Stotz has delivered a surprisingly good album in my opinion.

Civilization One’s music could very well be described as Melodic Metal with a Neo-classical

edge. Their sound and style is a mix of Secret Sphere, Pyramaze, Masterplan, and Axel Rudi Pell among others. The musicians really do know how to handle their instruments and they combine heavy guitars with atmosphere, great melodies and catchy choruses that grow with every listen.

Even though that Chitral Somapala is not my favourite singer, he’s doing a quite good job here on ”Revolution Rising”. But there are times when his voice is getting a tad on my nerves…but, well… I’m getting used to his voice by now.

The standard is very high so it’s a little difficult to name any standout tracks… but maybe “Legends of the Past (Carry on”), and the up-tempo track “Welcome to Paradise are a tad better than the rest. “Legends of the Past (Carry on”) contains a chorus that sticks like glue… believe me… it’s catchy as hell.

Civilization One will do fine out there I think. They can surely compete with the best, that’s for sure. ”Revolution Rising” is a splendid Melodic Metal album, which definitely must be heard by all fans of melodic tunes, that’s for sure!

Good Buy : )
