Most of you might be familiar with Winters Bane due to the fact that Tim “Ripper” Owens handled the vocals on their great debut album “Heart of a Killer” back in 1993, before he went on to join Judas Priest.

After Tim's departure guitarist Lou St. Paul took over the vocal duties on Winters Banes second album “Girth” from 1997. The “Heart of a Killer” CD was re-released by Century Media in 2000 and in 2003 a four track demo was released.

Then in 2005 a new album called “Redivivus” was recorded, but it was only released in the US now at last it is available here in Europe through the Metal Heaven label.

Lou St. Paul are the only original member left in the band and he has recruited Jeff Welch (Apocalypse US) on bass, Mark Cross (ex-Helloween, ex-Metalium) on drums and Alexander Koch (ex-Spiral Tower, Powergod) on vocals.

“Redivivus” is a great piece of US power metal but it will never be a classic like the “Heart of a Killer” album, don’t get me wrong there is some great stuff on this CD, but it just like something is missing. I don’t know what it is but when I get to the last 2 or 3 tracks I find myself doing something else than listening to the music.

But check it out for yourself, maybe I’m just getting old.
