Proll Guns – Fucking Trouble Maker

ProllGuns_Fucking Trouble Maker Cover

Thrash Metal gone Rock n’Roll! That’s the Proll Guns for you. Well, that and fake guns, lots of whiskey, a singer with a whiskey soaked voice and two fully integrated cowgirls who are not beyond providing the front row at a gig with free whiskey. Lemmy might have moved on from whiskey to vodka, but he would definitely feel right at home at a Proll Guns gig. But it is not just Lemmy himself who would likely feel very comfortable at a Proll Guns show, the same does also go for his fans as the Proll Guns’ music is obviously very akin to Motörhead with maybe a bit of Chris Holmes’ outlaw attitude thrown in for good measure.

This combination kicks in right from the start with the title track “Fucking Trouble Maker”. Pure Rock n’Roll “We’ll kick your ass!” style Thrash Metal!

But then, what else would you expect from an Austrian band that uses the term “Proll” (German slang for “yob”, i.e. a loud and uncultured ruffian) in its name? If you would expect a band that wrote a song named “Horsemeat Barbecue” that is hell bent on going head to head with all vegetarians and vegans then you are just as spot on as the Proll Guns. Last but not least the third and final song: “From Texas To Hell”. If they should ever tour Texas then that would be THE tune they would be forced to play every single night! It starts slowly, but then the drummer starts to beat his chosen instrument and another Rock n’Roll Thrash attack with some banjo riffs (!) thrown in for good measure begins.

ProllGuns

This is still just an EP though, which makes it difficult to evaluate the band’s true potential. Will they be able to keep this up for an entire album? And will their formula still be entertaining when you listen to it for about an hour? I am undecided about this. Be that as it may, it would be unfair to judge a band’s effort based on something that could, or could not happen. This is why I am willing to give 7 devils for this effort.
