Nocturnal Hollow – Deathless and Fleshless

This third album of Nocturnal Hollow hailing from Venezuela is mixed and mastered by Dan Swano. Old school death metal in the old Swedish style with a little touch of American death is what you can expect. This happens to be music I like very much. The first albums of Entombed, Unleashed, Dismember, Autopsy and Edge of Sanity are still big favorites.  The typical riffing and drums that form this style are the ingredients also used by Nocturnal Hollow. Add a low, rather understandable grunt to the music in well written songs and I’m convinced. I think especially Unleashed is one of the bands favorites and a band like Celtic Frost of course.

The album is recorded by only 2 members, George Knive on drums and JR Escalante responsable for vocals, guitars and bass. On You Tube I saw that the band is playing live as a three piece band, but I couldn’t figure out if this is  just a hired musician or a permanent member.

For now it isn’t really important, here the music counts and that’s food for every old school death metal lover. Listen to the song below and you know enough.

01. Spawn Of the Possessed
02. As Blood Flows
03. The Incantation Of Astaroth

05. Necromantial Sin

08. Beyond Death

Once a metal head, always a metalhead. My parents thought it would only be a period, but they were wrong. I quit to explain the beauty of metal music to others that are not into metal, because it is something you can't tell in words... It is like explaining to a teetotaller why a cold beer is so nice on a hot day... I started with bands like Accept, Metal Church, Iron Maiden and Metallica in the eighties and I think I will still listen to them when I'm stone deaf and old...
