Third album from Swiss Symphonic Rockers Lunatica fronted by singer Andrea Dätwyler and it’s called ”The Edge of Infinity”. Their previous album ”Fables & Dreams” (2004) was a pleasant surprise in my opinion so I was pleased when I received this brand new album and my expectations were high.

Now after numerous listens I’m a little bit disappointed, not that I find this album bad - no, no… it’s a solid piece of Symphonic Hard Rock but most of the songs are on the exact same level - namely decent. However three of them, the title-track “The Edge of Infinity”, “Who you are” (written by Carl Falk and Sebastian Thott, famous for writing and producing Pop acts like Westlife and Britney Spears. Don’t worry, it’s not a Pop song!) and “Song for you” are first class Melodic Symphonic Hard Rock. Especially the title-track is great, it could very well be the best song Lunatica have ever written.

”The Edge of Infinity” is produced by Sascha Paeth and Miro (Kamelot, Rhapsody Angra etc.) and Matthias Norén is responsible for the cover artwork. At last but not least we have a few guest here; John Payne (ex-Asia), Dieter Meier (Yello) and Oliver Hartman (ex-At Vance). Oliver Hartman joins Andrea for a duet on the song “EmOcean”.

So, if symphonic Hard Rock/Metal is your thing do yourself a favour and check this album out when it hit the stores later this month.
