Dominance – XX – The Rising Vengeance

Dominance is an Italian death metal band and after some searching on the internet I found out that this is their third album. They started in 1992 and the first release was in 1999, the second in 2009 and with the third in 2016, you can’t say that they deliver an album on a regular base.

The music on the new album is rather brutal, but very melodic death metal. The vocals are brutal and aggressive, but quite understandable. After a short intro, two fast and heavy tracks follow. “Into the Fog” is slower and a lot groovier.”Twisted” is a lot heavier and into your face. In several songs I experience the same brutality and aggression as in the music of  Kataklysm. After that “Dear Next Victim” again brings in some variety, with slower and again groovier parts. This variety in styles does make the album more interesting. In the next tracks the band serves the same formula, fast and devestating songs varied by more groovy tracks.

Final conclusion is that Dominance delivered a fine death metal album with the necessary variety, but on the other hand also nothing I did not hear before. Below a short trailer to figure out if this is something for you.

Once a metal head, always a metalhead. My parents thought it would only be a period, but they were wrong. I quit to explain the beauty of metal music to others that are not into metal, because it is something you can't tell in words... It is like explaining to a teetotaller why a cold beer is so nice on a hot day... I started with bands like Accept, Metal Church, Iron Maiden and Metallica in the eighties and I think I will still listen to them when I'm stone deaf and old...
