Cellador – Off the Grid

Off the Grid is Cellador’s 2nd full length album. In 2011 the band released an EP, but now finally there is a new release. Like on their 2006 debut Enter Deception, their style is still fast thundering melodic power metal with some thrash riffs. Dragonforce is a band you can compare them with, especially in the fast tracks ‘Shadowfold,’ ‘Swallow Your Pride,’ and ‘This Means War.’ When the music is a little less fast, Power Quest, Steel Attack, and bands like that enter my mind.

The album has a few less fast songs than their debut, but that doesn’t bother me for a moment. Chris Petersen not only fights out one dual after another with Bill Hudson, but his singing is also good. My personal favorites are the ‘Shadowfold’ and ‘Running Riot,’ the first especially because of the rather heavy thrash sounding riffs. Nice fast and furious power metal, with amazing fast guitar solos and leads leaning towards speed metal at times.

Below 2 songs that are representative of the entire album.

Once a metal head, always a metalhead. My parents thought it would only be a period, but they were wrong. I quit to explain the beauty of metal music to others that are not into metal, because it is something you can't tell in words... It is like explaining to a teetotaller why a cold beer is so nice on a hot day... I started with bands like Accept, Metal Church, Iron Maiden and Metallica in the eighties and I think I will still listen to them when I'm stone deaf and old...
