"Temple Of Shadows" is the second Angra album with Eduardo Falaschi on vocals, and if anyone wanted André Matos back after listening to "Rebirth", then I am pretty sure all requests stops now! Because Eduardo has been fully integrated in the new Angra sound, and he does a very good job on this album. The intense touring in last couple of years has clearly gelled the band together and "Temple Of Shadows" is Angra's best album since "Holy Land" (1996)! You get all the trademarks, we love from this frontrunner of Brazilian metal; fast songs, mid-temp songs and ballads. After a short intro the album kicks off with one the fastest tracks, they've ever written: "Spread Your Fire", where Sabine Edelsbacher sings even better than I think she did on the last Edenbridge album! Highlight after highlight chases each other throughout the album, before it's finished off with a rather strange orchestrated intrumental track: "Gate XIII". Kai Hansen does appear on "The Temple Of Hate" and he gives that song a nice old-Helloween feel to it. Hansi Kürsch helps out on "Winds Of Destination" another great track on this album. Rafael Bittencourt and Kiko Loureiro proves once more, that they should be counted among the best guitar-duos around and with no shortage of the usual brazilian influence on the songs, we are treated with more than an hour of powerful metal from the best metal export from Brazil ever. And the production by Dennis Ward is like we are used to from him excellent. This album is really the album, so many Angra fans have been hoping for for a very long time ...! And if you should have missed the Angra DVD: "Rebirth World Tour - Live In Sao Paulo", then buy the Ltd. Edition, because it's included. Great album from Angra, that I am sure will please all Angra and power metal fans out there ... Recommended tracks: "Spread Your Fire", "Angels And Demons", "The Shadow Hunter" & "Morning Star" |
