I know Creed has been the best selling band in the last decade (selling more than 30 million albums), and had seen a small notice, that they had broken up! "So what" I thought, because I have never been a fan of theirs. Then a buzz about a new band formed by Mark Tremonti (guitars), Scott Phillips (drums) and Brian Marshall (bass), all ex-Creed members at some point, along with vocalist Myles Kennedy (ex-The Mayfield Four) started and I decided to give them a try, I am glad I did! I wasn't overly impressed the first couple of times I listened to the album, but then suddenly it started to sink in ... and now I must admit, that I love this album. This album has the potential to make Alter Bridge as big as Creed used to be, or even bigger. There's a couple of wonderful songs, like their first single: "Open Your Eyes" or "Broken Wings", that have a good chance to get a lot of airplay in the US. But on the other hand there is also some very hard metal songs on the album, I just love "Metalingus" - take a listen to the end of this song ... awesome! I am very impressed with vocalist Myles Kennedy, he puts so much conviction and passion into his singing and his vocal range is unbelievable. And the rest of the band sounds really tight, playing their respective parts. Mark Tremonti is an excellent guitarist and really shines on this album, both by his playing and writing. If you're a fan of modern rock, buy this album. You won't be disappointed. Recommended tracks: "Open Your Eyes", "Metalingus", "Broken Wings" and "The End Is Here" |
