This coming Friday June 15th, Danish heavy fuzz rockers will release their debut album ‘On The Verge Of Nothing’ through German label Kozmik Artifactz. As of now, the band unleash the brand new song ‘Yet Untitled’ from the forthcoming album which will be celebrated with a release show in Copenhagen on June 18th. Things get even wilder when THE SLEDGE perform on Denmark’s big metal festival Copenhell on June 23rd, where they are joining a hefty line-up consisting of some of the world’s finest heavy bands.

The show at COPENHELL will only be the third concert for the band, but the crew is well established in the Danish rock underground: THE SLEDGE has risen the ashes of Danish fuzz-bomb band Hjortene, who did five different releases – all in different physical formats. Since 2004, Hjortene played live all over Scandinavia, supported Valient Thorr, Truckfighters and Fu Manchu and gathered a solid following in Scandinavia. Now, Hjortene has changed their name into THE SLEDGE and along with the change of moniker comes a new vocalist now singing in English and a heavier, downtuned sound which comes off as the band’s very own. It is hard to categorize the music of THE SLEDGE as heard on their debut album ‘On The Verge Of Nothing’. Some might call it stoner, with a mighty dose of proto-metal, and some might call it hard rock with pinches of grunge, old school metal, and robotic riffs.

THE SLEDGE’s debut album was captured live in the studio over two days. All the basic tracks of drums, guitar and bass were done in one room, played live, with the use of no headphones and no studio windows to obscure the energy; just roaring amplifiers and pounding loud drums. The band wanted to capture the raw feeling of playing live and be able to feel each other in that room. Later, they dubbed vocals and other details and invited prominent friends to contribute.

Old friend of the band Lorenzo Woodrose (Baby Woodrose, On Trial) is all over the album.

“He just came, hung out, and delivered… a lot of percussion and harmony vocals”, the band says. Bo Morthen from stoner psych legends On Trial did vocals for a blue, paired down track and had Lorenzo to back him up. “It was like bringing On Trial together for a song again”.

The debut album “On The Verge Of Nothing” is recorded live by Anders Onsberg Hansen (Baby Woodrose, Spids Nøgenhat), mixed by Matt Bayles (Mastodon, The Sword) in Seattle, mastered by Dave Collins (Metallica, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, QOTSA) in Los Angeles and are rounded of by the stunning artwork of Anders Cold. The album is released on 15th of June via German label Kozmik Artifactz on heavy gatefold LP in three colors and also digital formats – order the vinyl HERE
