Prog Rockers MAGIC PIE Share New Single P&C!
New Album out August 30, 2019.
To shorten the wait for the upcoming Magic Pie album Fragments of the 5th Element, the band shares the album opener P&C as a single today!
Fragments of the 5th Element is the long-awaited fifth full-length album from Norwegian Prog Rockers Magic Pie and set to hit the streets via Karisma Records on August 30, 2019 in CD, Gatefold LP and Digital formats. The new album finds MAGIC PIE steering clear of the sterile perfection so often found amongst modern Prog bands in order to create an album with a slightly more unpolished sound, and a “rough around the edges” feel that gives it an added bite. From the genre-defying opener, to the epic 23 minute closer, MAGIC PIE clearly demonstrate just why they have become a household name amongst Prog Rock fans, and why this album has been worth the long wait.
Mixed & Mastered by Rich Mouser (SPOCKS BEARD, TRANSATLANTIC) at The Mouse House Studio in Los Angeles, drums for Fragments of the 5th Element were recorded at Lionheart Studio & Production, where Øyvind Voldmo Larsen also worked his magic as engineer. All other recordings were made at Kim Stenberg’s Studio Basement.
The album artwork and design is a work by Kim Stenberg, based on original paintings by Eva Stenberg.

Magic Pie has become a household name for prog fans around the world with their blend of classic prog and 70’s hard rock inspired by bands such as Dream Theater, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Deep Purple, Yes, etc. Fronted by band leader and guitar maestro Kim Stenberg, the band are known for their epic, energetic, melodic and sometimes heavy prog rock with splendid vocal harmonies and great musicianship.
Fragments of the 5th Element is Magic Pie’s long awaited 5th album, made up from 5 tracks showcasing the band’s very diverse influences. On this record, they have tried to steer clear of the sterile perfection which modern prog bands have a tendency to get caught up in – and have gone for a slightly more unpolished sound, a bit rough in the edges. A little more ‘bite’.
From the bombastic and genre-defying opener The Man Who Had It All to the epic 23 minute album closed The Hedonist, this album has Magic Pie firing on all cylinders! It’s safe to say that it has definitely been worth the wait.
