Location Address:
BETA is often called Amager Bio’s “little brother” because of its size and location, but BETA is a place of its own.
Just like at Amager Bio, the affection of music is in focus at BETA – an affection that permeates and reflects the expression and atmosphere of the place. With a capacity of only 150 people, we have created the perfect setting for intensity and intimacy. Whether you like to get close to the performer on stage, or just lean back, and enjoy the hard pumping and compact sound of our excellent sound system – your wishes will be granted.
The music is niche-focused and mostly from the underground – it’s versatile with a healthy dose of diversity. At BETA, you can hear everything from electronica, pop, rock and indie to punk, metal and noise / avant-garde. We have had a few exceptions by more established headliners such as Crowbar, Baroness, Entombed, Corrosion of Conformity, Freja Loeb, The Dø and others.
One of our goals is to give the lesser-known artists the possibility to play under professional circumstances – everything from light, audio, and stage-conditions to catering and management. This opportunity has a purpose: We want to equip the bands for future concerts at a greater venue – in this case Amager Bio. A good example of this is Kvelertak who played for an audience of 90 people at BETA in 2010, and then came back and played for 700 at Amager Bio in 2013.
BETA is run mostly by volunteers, which ensures enthusiasm and passion. You can feel the result of this, from when you hand-over your coat, until the last beer is served in the bar. All in all: BETA – a venue for the music aficionado!
