Bands: Savage Machine, Encyrcle
When Jørgen and I saw the opportunity to spend some time together eating pizza, drinking nice red wine and beer, watch some soccer on the telly and catch two of Denmark’s up- and coming young metal bands live on stage we took it.
The two bands in question: Encyrcle and Savage Machine, have much in common… They are both fairly unknown to general metal fans, they do not have a big back catalogue to dig into and they are both heavily influenced by 80s heavy metal.
First off to enter the stage in front a small crowd, maybe 60 people, was Encyrcle from Odense. Unfamiliar with their music we were both pleasantly surprised with their technical and powerful metal. It turned out that they had a new vocalist and he did OK, I (Kenn) didn’t like his screams at all, but it seemed to be his trademark. They music was fine, and they were OK on stage. But afterwards only second to last song stuck in my mind, and they do have a long way to go…
Headliner, Savage Machine, was Denmark’s representatives in last year’s WOA Metal Battle where they did OK. Having only released an EP and a single, they didn’t have a lot to choose from, but that didn’t hold them back… From the word GO they came, saw and conquered!
Everything took at least five steps up, they kicked major ass on stage and were clearly a better and stronger unit, simply a more professional band that know how to perform live, even in front of a very small audience. They are clearly one of the best new bands to arise from the Danish shores in a long time, and hopefully they’ll have a full-length album out soon.
A nice evening came to its conclusion and we went back to my place, had a few beers more, and listened to some old school heavy metal – the theme of the evening.
