Ever wanted to find out what inspired a particular song?

Was it based on personal experience or simply passive observation?

What happened in the recording studio or on stage to make one song sound different from the rest?

These are just some of the question bands and musicians attempt to answer in Line 'em Up - the newest page of The Power Of Metal.Dk.

This is where your favourite bands comment on their albums, track by track, because as someone once said, “Ideas are the building blocks of ideas”.

Enjoy!

Here’s a chance for you to tell our readers about your new album “Eleven Mysteries”. But could you please start off by introducing the readers to you?

D: Well, I'm Daniele Liverani from Ttaly, and I'm basically I'm a music lover since ever I started to play piano when I was a child attending a local classical school that gave me all the theory and armonic notions, then I selfapproached guitar at 16 , applying it all the classical notions I learned from classical piano experience. At age 22 I won a national contest as Italian best guitar player and I won a payed trip and stage at GIT school in LA. I stayed there for a period of time...it was there that I put togheter the lineup to record the my first solo project album 'Viewpoint' that would have been released only some years later..I also studied bass and drums later on since I always had a great love for both classic and quality rock metal music and for all the instruments involved in it....Even if I did many demo tapes and music projects since back in 1987, I can say that my official recording career starts back in 1997 as keyboard player and composer with the first release of my progmetal band of that time band Empty Tremor 'Apocolokyntosys'. From then I started a long journey of music projects and production that led me to release 18 albums with Empty tremor,Genius Rock Opera, Khymera, Twinspirits, Cosmics, Prime Suspect and solo releases...

And now onto “Eleven Mysteries”… track-by-track, what inspired you, what topics are you dealing with, what do you want to express with this song etc.

01. Mysterious Impulse

D: This song is the opener of the album, it has a very fast and furious opening and scaring intro I'd say and it progresses on as an intense ,neoclassic at times, power song with some challenging tecnical moments for each instrument. It introduces the listener to the whole concept of of the album, the 3 basic aspect of human being:Body, Spirit and personality.

02. Inspiration

D: This is a more straigh rock tune, it's got a groovy tempo and a very melodic chourus. I tried to express a very postive mood with this one, trying to depict the sensationg of being "inspired" I'd say.

03. Nervous Forces

D: This is a song about strenght and energy. It's got a very powerfull slow tempo intro riff and it's recorded with a lowered tuning guitar sound. It contains an impressive drum solo at the end, where and "ostinato" theme begins and drums rises up with the maximum freedom and takes the lead spot for a about minute.

04. Supreme Gladness

D: This is the most calm and soft ballad of the album. It's a very melodic tune, where some "pink floyd" type of clean guitar tone tries to create a very magic athmosphere.

05. All Is Pure

D: This is mid tempo ballad, very thematic song. It progresses on a very rock sounding tune, but still very melodic. It has a very positive mood, and it's inspired to purity of Thought.

06. Giving

D: This is the only song I didn't wrote for this album, the Keyboard player Marco Zago wrote this. Here you can hear keyboards on the forefront and enjoy his creativity and musicality. This song has some nice piano moment and a very melodic chours as well. The concept of this song is about giving without expecting to be given.

07. Humiliation

D: This is the most dark song of the albun and describes the humiliation feeling, an experience that all we have passed through in our life growing up...it's a low tuned guitar song, and it's got very powerfull drumming.

08. Regeneration

D: This is the most easy listening song in my opinion, it has a sort of "dancing" attitude in its rhythm, and it has a "delay guitar lick" that runs across almost all the song. It is a song that tries to describe the regeneration process that is necessary from time to time in our life.

09. Freedom

D: This is the most "Heavy metal" sounding song, with some very tricky odd time signature parts in it. It's a song about freedom and so it's very free in terms of composition.

10. Survive

D: This song has some interesting bass moments that gives a Funky vibe at times, it's a mid tempo very melodic song with a very intenso groove.

11. Eternal

D: This is the longest tune of the album, and it describes the last and probably biggest mistery: Death. it's got 3 different moment, the first is very progressive, the mid one has a sort of Jazzed vibe, and the final part is very thematic and leads the listener to the end of the journey.

Could you please tell us a bit about the artwork – who made it etc. and how important do you feel it is to have a cool artwork?

D: The cover artwork of this album has been done be me he he. It's the first time I take care also of the artwork/Graphic aspect and I have to say that's very thrilling to be able to describe exactly what you have in mind for the concept directy working on the artwork. I wanted to create a mysterious mood on the cover, and to give a visionary descrption of these 11 mysteries in a very cold/invernal backgroud. Of course there are elements in the cover that can help to get a meaning to all the concept that is described by the music, but the very interesting part of art is the freedom of the listeners to come up with their own interpretation of it, so I won't explain more depper this cover. I think it's important to have a nice/catchy and appropriate/inspired artwork for an album, it's the first aspect where you try to catch the attention of the potential listeners, so it's crucial for some reason I'd say.

Who and what has inspired you musically on this album?

D: The concept behind "Eleven Mysteries" album came out from many reading and analysis I did recently on various books and arguments that I approached regarding life. I'm talking about philosophy books, ancient and modern, books about ancient civilizations, mysterious stories about glorious civilizations of the past, and different great writers and philosopher of many cultures, both in astoical perspective or narrative perspective. I extracted from these readings some of the basic and most interesting concepts that jumped to my attention regarding life approach, life principles and spiritual concepts, and I tried to organize them in a musical journey that runs through all of them and it turned out into these 11 musical mysteries album. All the songs are about some of the most important moments and aspects of our life, all the experiences that all we are going through during our life time and the mysterious aspects that are often hidden behind these experiences, choices, life styles and life events. From these experiences we all are able to learn a a lot, and possibly express these experience to others, using art for example, like music. That's the main aim of the concept of this album basically, an attempt to express and share some of the most interesting and mysterious concept I ran through my latest reading and researches, trying to transform them in music that could express the feeling of those messages.

Can you reveal any of your plans for your future? Will you create another rock opera, teaming up with your old buddies from Twinspirits etc?

D: Well, I'll be busy for a while with the promotion of the new guitar album "Eleven Mysteries", doing interviews, and web promotion, usual stuff that are done for each release. But I'm already writing new music of course! It' will be probably a sort of new rock opera that I'm going to be involved for a while...I'm writing the story and I don't know much at the moment of where this new project will lead me, it's gonna be something that will be released under my name though. I need to play guitar for some time, I really felt great going back to this instrument and so I think there will be some more solo release in the nearfuture, that's what you can expect from me I's say.

Thank you very much for answering my questions. Do you have any last rants for our readers?

D: Thanks a lot to all the readers, all the fans that supported me through all the years, I hope you'll dig my new "Eleven Mysteries"... and to you of course for the interview!
