RATING:

I have one major issue with this new Secret Sphere album called The Nature of Time: the mix! The guitar sound is way too low and the album suffers immensely because of that.

The second studio album with Michele Luppi fronting them is more of the same. If you loved their earlier albums then I am sure you’ll love this one as well. Their mixture of power metal and progressive metal has always applied to my taste. Even though they might never reach the level of A Time Never Come again, they have always been a solid contributor of technically sound and well written European Power Metal mixed up with a solid portion of progressive elements.

I wish I could say that they’ve taken a big step forward with The Nature of Time, but that is not the case. This album is not quite as strong as its predecessor, Portrait of a Dying Heart. I had hopes for another cool album that was pushing the boundaries of their sound way more than this one does, but sadly we get more of the same.

Not the result I had set my hopes on, but never-the-less, still a fine and solid effort. One thing I have to mention; the album artwork is one of finest I’ve seen in a long, long time. Brilliant!

When I kicked this site off back in 2003, I had no idea that it would turn into what it has become. I am very proud of what we've done and achieved over the years. Musically I have a soft spot for 80s inspired hard rock, but my favourite music and bands are all to be found in the progressive universe these days.
