The
debut EP from Norwegian quartet Ground Zero System is a pleasant
surprise. The four tracks presented display an inventive approach to
metal music.
It’s
industrial metal with a groove and odd twists and turns. The vocal is
growling, only interrupted by the occasional clean vocal, adding a fine
contrast. In places there’s the feel you can get from a Morbid Angel
album (circa Covenant), in other instances you find close ties to Die
Krupps or even the Prodigy.
I
have a sneaking suspicion that we’ll be hearing more from these guys.
