Although it’s too early to speak
about NWOITM (New
Wave of Italian Thrash Metal), such processes flow there, and we could call them AWOITM®
(Accumulative Wave of
Italian Thrash Metal)! Lots of
labels support the local scene, where plenty of bands follow different
classic bands to continue their traditions. Punishment 18 Records are amongst the most serious factors in these processes.

TOTAL DEATH is a serial occurrence in the
phenomena. To be full our terminological dictionary we will add that the
boys sometimes determine their gender like Vegan Thrash Terrorism.
The thrash metal of TOTAL DEATH is
built on the most aggressive demos in the early European thrash (“Total
Death” is an early song of KREATOR!), and at the same time has influences
from the late wave thrash/death metal in the traditions of PROTECTOR and MESSIAH. This
90es feeling for transition toward death metal could be
found in the minimized quantity classical riffs and the more powerful
sound. The vocals also are emphasized aggressive.
Although
the declared inspiration from the European stage as if the Italian quartet
carries the marks of influences from POSSESSED and MORBID
SAINT. A few quotes from SLAYER and DEMOLUTION HAMMER
could be found.
For the fans of thrash/death
metal „The Pound of Flesh“ is a remarkable release. While remaining in the field of AWOITM®
the album does not bring the
genius continuation of the above mentioned traditions, it is more like
reminding of the significant achievements in the style. But the release is
a late representative of this accumulation that will give birth to the new
colossus of metal in the region between the Apennines and the Alps!
