To direct energies to the doom territories in the country of CANDLEMASS is a traditional work. But the music of SATURNALIA TEMPLE is far away from the bosom of the traditional doom metal!

The Swedish project is a creation of the occult writer and multi-instrumentalist Tommie Eriksson. His three almost one-man projects and the multitude of his guest appearances explain why the discography of  SATURNALIA TEMPLE is not numerous, as well as the constant concept in its releases, two of which are full length albums.

The rhythms and the emphasized bass are in the doom traditions but there is a multitude of components built over. First, the funeral doom metal mood can be caught. During a big part of the time, the vocals are in the gender of black metal with lots of echo and low growling. The implementation of acoustic guitars and keyboards interpretations with sometimes folk melodies do not frame the music in the stoner sound, but defines a more contemporary sludge feeling. At the same time, it's kept the aggressive sound of the album. The repeating monotonous figures that build the basis of the songs minimize the virtues of SATURNALIA TEMPLE. This transference of acid sound or of psychedelic in the sense that is added in the contemporary club music makes the tracks longer in an unnecessary direction. On the other side, exactly this decision in combination with the vocals touches the suicidal black metal.

"To the Other" is full of wealth of influences and presents an occult sound picture. The purposive primary recording helps the clear listening of the different components, and is in the context of the contemporary stoner/sludge. Only the monotonous repetitions at some places jump over the border of the balanced sound. This is "a defect" that for some fans could be the hit in the album.
