Take a cup of Night Ranger, blend it in
a bowl with Journey and spice
it with flavors of Whitesnake and you
have a new rock 'n roll menu. Revolution
Saints is the name of this new
super group, which consists Deen
Castronovo (lead vocals, drums) of
Journey and Bad English, Jack Blades
(bass, vocals) of Night Ranger, as well
as with the Damn Yankees, and Doug
Aldrich (guitars) from Burning Rain,
Whitesnake and Dio. A quality lineup in
top class!! The project is the
brainchild of Frontier's President
Serafino Perugino, who for years has
hoped to work on a project where Deen
would be the lead vocalist. Having
previously worked with all three artists
on different projects on Frontiers Records,
having Deen, Jack and Doug on board
together was a dream come true for
Perugino. With production overseen by
in-house Frontiers man, Alessandro Del
Vecchio (who also contributed to the
songwriting and played keyboards on the
album), the recording process took place
in Portland, OR during the summer of
2014.
Hundreds of super constellations
have passed by and have been put on the
shelf after only one or maximum two
albums. I beg on my knees to the
almighty rock gods that this will be a
prospective band with many more albums
to come, because this sounds extremely
healthy and very alert. These three rock
stars have made one of the most solid and
positive hard rock albums this year.
Frontiers Records seems to shoot all
they have this month... They release two
big mega cannons on the same same day:
Eclipse and Revolution Saints! 'How to
Mend a Broken Heart' is a cover version
of the brilliant Eclipse track btw.
'Dream On' is a song written by Erik Martensson (Eclipse, W.E.T), with Johan
and Kris Becker, Alessandro and Jack
Blades and is a melodic gem. Rest of the
tracks has 'Del Vecchio' written all
over it and if you like his sense of
music, you will find this album very
tasty...
Revolution Saints is true ear
candy for the hungry Journey fans, who
still waits for the next studio album
from the band. Both Arnel Pineda and
Neal Schon from Journey appears as
guests musicians on this album btw. I've
been a big fan of Deen Castronovo's
vocals and finally I've got a whole
album with his charismatic singing
voice. Jack Blades is as always a great
singer, but this is Deen's album! Jack
has got more rasp in his throat and fits
great in the powerful down tempo song 'Way to the
Sun'. All the twelve songs are
high quality tracks and Alessandro
Del Vecchio has done a monster work with
the songs. It's a fine mixture of faster
classic hard rock tracks and mature,
calmer rock ballads. "Revolutions Saints"
is an album to spin over and over again
and there will be new songs that grabs
your spine depending your own mood. If
you are a fan of Night Ranger, Journey, Hardline you will find this album very
delicious to consume.
I lift my cap and bow deeply.
Thanks for the ride.
