Speed Metal! Fast and rough Speed Metal with a good dose of Thrash Metal thrown
in for good measurement. That’s Ranger’s first full length album “Where Evil
Dwells” for you. The pace is just as extreme as the technical skills of the
band, and if they should be able to deliver their sound on stage with an
adequate show then I really, really hope that they’ll keep lots of liquid nearby
to compensate for all the sweat they are likely to loose on stage.
One can literally feel the band’s enthusiasm about their music. They’ve got the
skills, and they obviously have the energy to convince even those who are hard
to win over. The high pitched vocals, the guitar riffs, the guitar solos, and a
drummer who seems to be hell bent on beating his drumkit into submission provide
such an intense listening experience that you better expect to fall into a kind
of limbo once the album is over. I had not expected this particular surprise
while listening to the album for the first time, but the limbo thing is exactly
what happened to *me* and is also what got me to give the album such a high
rating.
Seriously, give the album a try, but be warned: You might find yourself yearning
for more!
