Of Modern Architecture are a band from Vancouver that mix many different elements to create their own brand of metal. Their new EP “Wilderness” is a mix of death metal, prog metal with a hint of black metal and even jazz! If I had to compare the band to another band, I’d say they remind me the most of Between the Buried and Me but more around the time of Alaska, when BTBAM still had a foot in the hardcore realm.

The songs careen from length songs with lots going on to shorter “punches in the face.”  My preference is the longer tracks especially the closing track “Mountains” which really shows the band has talent and chops. While “Wilderness” isn’t perfect, it does show the talent and potential of a young band that are definitely working on being unique. It’s fine for me to compare them to BTBAM or even Devin Townsend but really those are just influences that you can check here and there in the music. Of Modern Architecture should stick to being edgy and quirky but still hone their sound!
