If I'm not mistaken, this is the 9th full length the band releases. In 2014 this
French band celebrated their 25-year career perfoming throughout France and is
now ready to invade Europe with a new album in their pocket. With Jacob Hansen
behind the buttons the band took no risks and indeed the production is top notch.
The music on the album is thrash metal with some Swedish melodic death (think In
Flames) influences. That the band can not be called a death metal band is
because the vocals of Mick are not extreme enough, more harsh aggressive singing
parts than grunting and growling ones. The tracks are packed full with
interesting melodies and all have a fast tempo, and that is perhaps the problem
that the entire album can't keep me focused from start to finish. In my opinion
the songs should have varied more in tempo. But I must not carp at everything,
or as we say in the Netherlands (must not put salt on every snail).
The musicianship of the members is outstanding and then especially the melodic
guitar solos and harmonies. It are this melodic guitar pieces that remind me of
Testament a lot. With 'Fearless Walk To Rise' the band created a modern thrash/melodic
death album for fans of Testament. Soilwork and In Flames lovers.
The only thing keeping them from a higher rating is the in my eyes lack of
variety in tempo. Even after listening several times, I can't tell which song is
which.
However, that
doesn't change the fact that this is a nice cd.
